NuGyp™ Process

Chemistry

The chemistry of making plaster and its rehydration to gypsum is simple and well known.

Chemistry of Gypsum

Pure CaSO4·½H2O requires 18.62% of its own weight of water to rehydrate to CaSO4·2H2O. Theoretical water demand 100/18.62

To produce a flowable mix excess water is required

Mix of Water
  1. Alpha process 100/28 to 100/45
  2. Beta process 100/70 to 100/95
  3. NuGyp Process 100/50 to 100/95

As well as its use in the manufacture of plasterboard, its low water demand gives the beta plaster some of the attributes of aridised plaster and alpha/beta mixes, extending its use into industrial plaster products.
